Advisory Groups
SIM Technical Advisory Committee (SIMTAC):
The SIM project has an informal Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). This Committee has served as an independent advisory committee (i.e., peer review team) for SIM mission-and-system design as well as for technology development. The SIMTAC met roughly quarterly from early 1996 through 2007, for a total of 43 multi-day meetings/reviews, assisting the project in uncovering technical issues that needed to be addressed.

Navigator Program (now Exoplanet Exploration Program; NP/EXEP) External Independent Readiness Board (EIRB):
The external independent review function originated with a NASA Headquarters appointed Independent Review Team (IRT) beginning in 2001. In June 2005 the IRT was closed out, and the EIRB was chartered to reflect a change in NASA review board requirements. The EIRB consists of thirteen members with areas of expertise appropriate for Navigator Program (now Exoplanet Exploration Program) (NP/EXEP) programs and provides independent assessment of NP/EXEP projects (including SIM) to the NASA Headquarters Program Executive at key points throughout the life of the project.
